Telemark Ski Build – 170 cm Pair with Redwood Veneer Topsheet
My latest custom build is finished — a 170 cm pair of telemark skis with a traditional redwood veneer topsheet and playful, mismatched bases. This set combines classic style up top with a bit of unexpected flair underneath.
Ski Specs
- Length: 170 cm
- Dimensions (Tip/Waist/Tail): 134 / 96 / 113 mm
- Core Thickness: 2.2 mm tip, 9 mm center, 2.2 mm tail
- Core Material: Poplar with maple stringers
- Fiberglass: 19 oz e-glass
- Carbon Fiber: 1″ wide unidirectional carbon strip under the core
- Flex: Medium (ideal for a 5’9″, 160 lb rider)
- Topsheet: Quarter-sawn redwood veneer
- Base: Non-matching base colors for a unique look
Design Inspiration
The concept behind this build was to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern ski construction. The redwood veneer topsheet has a timeless, elegant look, while the non-matching bases add a sense of fun and individuality — a nod to the rider’s personality.
